Reverend Darrell Thomas held the first meeting in his home on September 14, 1996.  During this meeting, he expressed to those in attendance what God had revealed to him.  The name of the church would be “Love Fellowship Christian Church,” and the church motto would be, “There Is No Greater Love.” Last, but not least, he revealed the church’s mission, Making God’s Love Visible on Earth.”

From this meeting came the birth of Love Fellowship Christian Church.  The first worship service was held on April 20, 1997 in the auditorium of Old National Christian Academy (ONCA), and has been going strong ever since.

Love Fellowship welcomed its first musician on April 27, 1997; had its first member to join June 8, 1997; held its first dedication service on June 22, 1997; and baptized its first member on August 3, 1997.  While giving God all honor and praise, Love Fellowship continued to do God’s work by organizing and having its first choir rehearsal on August 9, 1997.  A glorious time of fellowship was shared by all on the first Family and Friends Day held August 31, 1997. The church was blessed with its first secretary on September 21, 1997.  On October 18, 1997, the choir received its name, the Love Fellowship Inspirational Sounds of Praise.  On October 19, 1997, Love Fellowship held its first New Member’s Class, followed by Words of Inspiration. On November 30, 1997, the youth presented their first Youth Sunday.  The Christmas season was embraced with our first Christmas Banquet on December 21, 1997, and the year 1997 was capped off with our first Watch Night Service on December 31, 1997.

During the first worship service for the New Year, Reverend Thomas revealed that Love Fellowship Christian Church would receive enormous blessings in 1998. The blessings began with our first Teacher’s Training Seminar, held on January 25, 1998, establishing our first Youth Church service on February 8, 1998.  The Christian Women’s Fellowship met for their first spiritual book reading on February 21, 1998, while the Men’s Ministry feasted on the buffet at Shoney’s earlier that day. The debut of the Love Fellowship Youth Choir was March 29, 1998.  Due to the closing of Old National Christian Academy, the Church held services at the Radisson Hotel in College Park, GA, and a building on Hwy 85 in Riverdale, GA.  By the grace of God, in March 2002, Love Fellowship held its first service in a church building at 104 West Campbellton Street, Fairburn, GA.

The first Membership Committee was formed, and met January 19, 2003.  This committee hosted its first event on March 16, 2003, entitled, “Reclamation Day,” which was incorporated with Family and Friends Day.

Love Fellowship Christian Church is truly living out its mission of “Making God’s Love Visible on Earth.”  The Church has supported a missionary trip to Africa, and has begun an outreach ministry through the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children. In addition, the Church is supporting a Diaper Drive at the Genesis Shelter for newborns and their families.  The Church distributes Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to those in need, as well as provides assistance during the year through our operational Benevolence Ministry.  Each year, Love Fellowship also sponsors a Community Outreach Day, which provides food, fun, and fellowship for all that attend. Additionally, God has blessed Love Fellowship with other ministries, such as Christian Education Classes, Sunday Morning Worship, Bible Study, Youth Church (2nd & 4th Sunday), Teens Church (1st & 3rd Sunday), Audio / Video Tape Ministry, Scholarship Ministry, Music Ministry, Ushers Ministry, and Building Fund.  On February 26, 2006, Love Fellowship had its first Ordination and Installation of Deacons.  Two Deacons, Carlos Thomas and Virgil White, were installed.  Bro. Nipsy Thomas and Bro. Vernon Raven were ordained.  Presently, Love Fellowship is blessed to have four Deacons.  Also, we are blessed to have three licensed Ministers of the Gospel.  On February 3, 2007, the Scholarship Fund was named in honor of Mother Willie Alice Thomas.

In order to enhance family unity within the Love Fellowship body, workshops are provided as needed for spiritual growth.  Each year, the Church has an Annual Picnic, and Christmas Banquet.  There are youth outings throughout the year, and periodic sleepovers for fun and fellowship.

As Love Fellowship remains faithful in carrying out its mission, God continues to bless in a mighty way.  On July 14, 2008, Love Fellowship purchased its own worship facility located at 5053 Roosevelt Highway in Union City, Georgia.  On Sunday, April 12, 2009, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held, and the congregation entered into the new church for worship.  On April 19, 2009, the church was dedicated in a special afternoon service, with guest speaker, Rev. O.L. Blackshear. This was also the celebration of the 12th Church Anniversary.

The first baptism service was held on Sunday, June 7, 2009, with a total of seven candidates.  On Sunday, June 14, 2009, Love Fellowship had its first Ordination and Installation of Ministers.  Minister Antonio Raven was ordained; Minister Curtis Smith and Minister Keith Troup were installed.

On October 4, 2009, Love Fellowship dedicated through special prayer and anointing, six mothers into a newly formed ministry, The Mother’s Ministry.
